• Average Sunday morning attendance in 2011 has been 61 (60 in Edmonds). 87 attended our Christmas Program, 120 Candlelight Service. We have enjoyed numerous visitors.
• The Tuesday afternoon Bible Study and Prayer Meeting at Judy Kumma’s will reconvene on January 10th with a new topic of study.
• A new congregational directory will soon be available.
• Our facility Dedication Service on January 29th will be a special celebration to which your family and friends will be very welcome.
• Faith & Fellowship, our denominational magazine, is provided free of charge to all who attend Grace. We are in the process of updating our subscription list.

Elders & Trustees:

• Thanksgiving Offerings: At our Thanksgiving Hymn Sing we receive a monetary offering for the Africa Hunger Relief and Economic Development project administered by the CLB Churches of Chad and Cameroon, and a food offering for the Edmonds Food Bank.
• Chuck Bowen is making available a beautiful wallet size ‘business card’ invitation to Grace for the congregation’s use. They will be available on the information table.
• We will be publishing a ‘Wish List’ consisting of items that would be useful in our ministry but are not in the budget at this time. For example, a baptismal fount.

Library: It is set up and ready for business in various locations. We have donated a lot of books that weren’t being used to a thrift store, but have kept the best. Check out is really easy; just grab the book, take it home and read it or lend it to a friend. No records are being kept, so if it is lost nobody will mind. We just want them to be read!

In the Community:

• We delivered 112 pairs of socks to Operation Nightwatch to distribute to Seattle’s street people.
• Seattle Children’s Chorus Christmas Concert, December 4th, 5:00 pm Everett; 10th 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian in Seattle.

Adult Sunday School Class, ‘People Who Made a Difference’ is a discussion style study of Old Testament models of faith. Class meets in the sanctuary.

People: Jamie Eisinger is studying and playing ball at Wayland Baptist U. in Texas. Abigail Mariah Lazicki is doing very well in Woodland Park, CO in the first weeks since birth. We congratulate Anthony and Victoria Fish on their August wedding.

Security System: It is now in operation and works much like what we had before. Keyed entry should only be done at the front door or double glass door next to the bathrooms, as these are where the code pads are located. The last one out should check all the doors to make sure they are locked.

In the Community:

• Fall Regional Women’s Retreat is September 30-October 2 at Embassy Suites and Maple Park.
• Operation Nightwatch ‘Sock It to Homelessness’ sock collection is coming in October.
• Edmonds Food Bank collection basket is downstairs.

• Tisha and Seveah Lazicki have moved back to Springfield, Oregon.
• Jeff and Peggy Buckley are planning to move to the ‘beach house’ in August.
• Mike and Hannah Lazicki arrived (finally) in Colorado and may settle in Colorado Springs. The tale of their move is harrowing indeed, but the story of the Lord’s provision is remarkable as well.

• We plan to move to the Edmonds facility for Rally Day. Watch for ‘fixing the place up’ opportunities this summer.

Prayer Notes:

• CLBA International Mission is seeking to place a new missionary family among the Bagirmi people of Chad, Africa. To do so will require a significant financial commitment beyond what is already being done.
• Many families in our CLB congregation in Minot ND lost their homes in the recent flood.
• As we transition to our new location we seek a renewed vision of our God given calling as His congregation in the community.
• God will continue to bless Kris Kraakmo’s ministry in Japan with fruitfulness, and give him great joy in the process.

Elder Board: During the summer our Bible Study and Prayer Meetings will be
on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. We are scheduling monthly congregational potlucks
after the morning service throughout the summer. Pastor Dan’s summertime
messages will be on the theme ‘The Church – Imagine That!’ featuring seven
images the NT creates to describe what the Church is, and ought to be on earth.
We will be enjoying a number of guest speakers as well. The Elder & Trustee
Boards are busy working on congregational transition issues. We will report on
progress.

Summer Schedule: Sunday School, Kid’s Club, Women of Grace, and Choir are
in recess Memorial Day to Labor Day. Youth have special activities. Worship

Elder Board: ‘Hallelujah. What a Savior!’ is our theme for Lent. On Wednesday evenings we will be focusing on the Biblical dynamics of a local Church congregation centered in Jesus Christ, and join in a season of spontaneous prayer. On Sundays we will meditate on how Jesus revealed His salvation to several diverse characters from the Gospel of John.

• SCC Camerata Benefit Concert on March 27, 7:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran in Lynnwood.

Hillcrest Choir: We are hosting them on Palm Sunday evening, and in homes overnight. betails will be forthcoming, but we will need a widespread hospitality response.

College & Young Adults: A Bible Study group has begun meeting with fellowship, spiritual growth, and outreach in mind. The schedule is flexible accommodating participant’s availability. If interested, not so young Gary is the man to see.

Kids Club: Wednesday nights at 5:30 the place is hopping with excited kids. Jesica who leads the ministry must take a two month break for personal reasons. Watch for an announcement on the immediate future of the group.

Benevolence Committee:

• We are again participating in Operation Nightwatch’s ‘Sock It to Homelessness’ by collecting new white socks for their distribution.
• Apple Gleaning near Quincy is scheduled for October 16^th. We glean in the morning and enjoy lunch together in Leavenworth. The apples are donated to the Lynnwood Food Bank (10,000 lbs last year), and we are welcome to gather some for ourselves as well. Collection baskets are provided by the food bank, boxes are available for private use. This is a great family event. Sign up if you are going. Ken Johnson has details.

Elder & Trustee Boards:

• Mindy Kim will share about her mission to Uzbekistan with a power point presentation during the worship service on October 10.
• The Planning Council meeting on October 9 includes all those who lead boards and ministries at Grace (or their chosen representatives). It is important that we have a full representation in making future plans.
• Concert of Prayer & Communion Service, October 10. The Bible contains so many promises to a church gathered in Jesus’ name in prayer.

Benevolence Committee: Our mission is to promote and facilitate in and through the congregation the good works in the name of Jesus to which the Church is called. This presently includes sending cards and flowers, emergency assistance, advocacy, ministry to elderly, and various benevolent offerings.

Parish Board: We will be starting a new Kid’s Club in the fall under Jesica Abella’s direction.

Movie Night on August 15 with films & popcorn for children and adults (‘Fireproof’).

• We pray that God will open up a way for us to transport Larry to church.

• Concert of Prayer & Communion Service, Sunday, April 18, 6:00 pm. This is an evening for the whole congregation to join as one voice in prayer.

MOPS: The group has grown to the point where a waiting list for new participants will be required until there is an increase in staff. Kim Gainza is the one to see.

Thursday Evening Fellowship Groups are reconvening, at South Pointe with Pastor Foss in Acts, and tentatively at Manor Care with Pastor Dan and ‘Glimpses Beyond the Jordan’ (life on earth). You are welcome to join either group.

Prayer Notes:
April is the closing month in our CLBA Synodical year. We always depend on generous giving to our co-operative ministries this month to meet our financial goals, and particularly this year in the economic downturn.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast: We meet on the last Saturday morning of the month at 7:00 am at the Pancake Haus in Edmonds for fellowship, discussion, and prayer (and breakfast). Join us for a really blessed time!

The Grace Sanctuary Choir has begun rehearsals. If you may be intereste in singing along, see John Hendrix.

Women of Grace begins again on October 12, 10:00 am.  On the months following it will be on the first Monday of the month.

Sunday School Rally Day Picnic was a special occasion. Sunday School is a good habit!

• The Adult Class will be viewing and discussing the Philip Yancey DVD ‘The Bible Jesus Read’ with Gary Stueckle leading. It is a compelling look at the Old Testament.
• Harvest Party at the Kraakmo’s for Sunday School and Youth families on October 25, 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Let’s Speak English is meeting with three eager participants (so far). This ministry has real potential. Bob Hosmer will gladly answer your questions.

People: The Hansens have moved, the Braatens and Banker Johnson soon will. An updated Church Directory with current information will soon be available.

Benevolence Committee:

• We continue to collect food for the Lynnwood Food Bank on Sundays.
• ‘Sock It to the Homeless’ begins in October, a ministry of Operation Nightwatch in Seattle. We collect new white socks for them to distribute to street people.
• We continue to encourage people in Jesus’ name in various ways.

• We would like to form a Missions Committee to promote a greater awareness in the congregation of Christ’s mission worldwide. If you might be interested in participating, see Pastor Dan.
• ‘Our Grace mission is to be an instrument of God’s love trough which our world will come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord.’ We have restated His Great Commission for congregational use in publication, supported by our six commitments: Salvation, Worship, Prayer, Word, Fellowship, and Service.

Youth:

• Our next big event is a camp out at Ocean Shores July 17-19. National Youth Convention, August 9-12, Estes Park, CO.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 6-10.   We are looking forward to a great week! Pre-registration is going well.  There are still opportunities for service. See Judy Lazicki.  And donations for the purchase of food are welcome.  The special offering project is the Everett Mission Women and Children’s Shelter.

• A Long Range Planning Committee is being formed to address the future needs of our congregation, particularly in terms of facility and finance.

Youth:

• Our next big event is Pitch-n-Putt at Greenlake on June 19.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 6-10. Service sign up sheets are waiting for your signature.  Monetary donations for the food being provided are welcome.  See the display in the auditorium.

Gadget’s Garage begins at 9:00 AM and lasts until noon each day.  Our 4th annual pinewood derby and Family BBQ starting at 6:00 pm on Friday evening.

• We ask the Father to protect a pregnant mother, and her child that Tom and Kim are preparing to adopt and that the father will agree to free the child for adoption.

Whether you like to camp or stay in a lodge, Bible Camp is a great place to spend a week of your summer. It is held at Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center in Stanwood, Washington during the last week of June each year.

The whole family is encouraged to take advantage of this time away from everyday life to experience God at camp. There are fun activities for all ages, including the kids program (age 4-3rd grade), SURGE for 4th-6th grades, SONBURST for 7th-12th, and the adult program.

Mason Rutledge, Evening Speaker

Mason Rutledge is the Young Life Regional Director for the Evergreen Region. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Western Seminary in Portland, OR and ICM Seminary in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Mason previously served Young Life as the National Director of Training. NavPress published his first book/study, Memorize This! TMS V3.0 and Mason has been published in numerous magazines, including Pray!, Discipleship Journal and Christian Reader. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University. Mason loves to cook, bicycle and write. He and his wife, Brenda, live in Everett, Washington; with their three children, Merrick, Madison and Murdock.

Mason will be teaching on the person of Jesus Christ, our situation and God’s redemptive plan for our lives.

• We encourage our congregation during the season leading up to Easter to ask the Lord whom among their contacts (who have no church home) that they might invite to our Easter breakfact and service. Prayer bookmarks are provided and Easter invitations will be available soon.
• The Nominating Committee will soon be meeting recruiting ministers for the coming year. Annual Reports from the various ministries, including budget requests, ministry goals, and plans to reach them, are due by the beginning of April.
• The Men’s Prayer Breakfast has had an encouraging start. Don’t miss out!

Today’s Birthday Party for Jesus has been been rescheduled for next Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 9:15 am.

Today’s Worship Service has been canceled due to poor road conditions and continued ice and snow.

December 24, 2008: We are still planning to have our Christmas Eve Candle Light Service at 11:00 pm.
