Parish Education Board:

  • Winter Rally Day on January 15th celebrates the first day of Sunday School in 2012. Lance & Caroline Erickson, aviation missionaries to Bolivia, will be our guests.
  • ‘Snow on the Mountain’. The congregation gave $869.50 toward our youth ministry and winter retreat. Thank You!
  • Watch for an announcement in the spring for a Pinewood Derby Dessert Night.

Elders & Trustees:

  • Average Sunday morning attendance in 2011 has been 61 (60 in Edmonds). 87 attended our Christmas Program, 120 Candlelight Service. We have enjoyed numerous visitors.
  • The Tuesday afternoon Bible Study and Prayer Meeting at Judy Kumma’s will reconvene on January 10th with a new topic of study.
  • A new congregational directory will soon be available.
  • Our facility Dedication Service on January 29th will be a special celebration to which your family and friends will be very welcome.
  • Faith & Fellowship, our denominational magazine, is provided free of charge to all who attend Grace. We are in the process of updating our subscription list.

Girl Scouts: A troop under Jesica Abella’s direction is starting up at Grace on January 11th. It will meet twice monthly on Wednesdays during the second and fourth weeks from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. We are delighted that our facility can be used for this excellent program.

Pacific Region North Women’s Ministries Event with Carrie Abbott of the Legacy Institute. Saturday, January 28th, 11:00 am at Word of Life, Marysville.

Parish Education Board:

  • Watch for an announcement in the spring for a Pinewood Derby Dessert Night.
  • Winter Rally Day on January 15th celebrates the first day of Sunday School in 2012.

Elders & Trustees:

  • Our Christmas Program/Choir Concert and Christmas Eve Candlelight Service are particularly appropriate opportunities to introduce others to Grace.
  • Thanksgiving Offerings: At our Thanksgiving HymnSing we received an offering of $165 for the Africa Hunger Relief and Economic Development project administered by the CLB Churches of Chad and Cameroun, and a food offering for the Edmonds Food Bank.
  • The kitchen project is nearing completion. We now have wheeled trash, recycle, and garden waste containers. Our overhead video system is in place.
  • We continue to enjoy guest speakers (Stan Olsen, Jack Storry, Dave Christenson recently). If you have someone to suggest, talk to Gary Stueckle.
  • The Tuesday afternoon Bible Study and Prayer Meeting at Judy Kumma’s is going well. Watch for an announcement on a new installment in January.
  • A new congregational directory will soon be available.

Parish Education Board

  • Trunk or Treat: We had a great time, although we overestimated the number of kids who would show up. The left over candy was donated to the food bank. Thank you for your generous donations.
  • Sunday school Christmas Program filming is in progress. December 18 is the premier.

Fall Ministries:

  • Women of Grace begins meeting November 7,10:00 am
  • Adult Bible Study: ‘Our Loving Father: Feeling God’s Embrace’ meets for six Thursdays at 130 pm beginning November 110 Pastor Dan has details.

Adult Sunday School Class: Christian Essentials is a study in the Biblical foundations of the Christian faith from a Lutheran Brethren perspective. It is designed as a refresher for some, discovery for others, and informative for those interested in membership at Grace. You are invited!

Elders & Trustees:

  • Thanksgiving Offerings: At our Thanksgiving Hymn Sing we receive a monetary offering for the Africa Hunger Relief and Economic Development project administered by the CLB Churches of Chad and Cameroon, and a food offering for the Edmonds Food Bank.
  • Chuck Bowen is making available a beautiful wallet size ‘business card’ invitation to Grace for the congregation’s use. They will be available on the information table.
  • We will be publishing a ‘Wish List’ consisting of items that would be useful in our ministry but are not in the budget at this time. For example, a baptismal fount.

Library: It is set up and ready for business in various locations. We have donated a lot of books that weren’t being used to a thrift store, but have kept the best. Check out is really easy; just grab the book, take it home and read it or lend it to a friend. No records are being kept, so if it is lost nobody will mind. We just want them to be read!

In the Community:

  • We delivered 112 pairs of socks to Operation Nightwatch to distribute to Seattle’s street people.
  • Seattle Children’s Chorus Christmas Concert, December 4th, 5:00 pm Everett; 10th 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian in Seattle.

Our Open House for the community is November 20th. Watch for details on how you can be involved in the final effort to prepare our building and grounds for the big day.

  • Postponed the facility dedication to allow for more time to complete necessary projects.
  • The kitchen project is in progress. Check it out.
  • We are looking for someone who enjoys working on Craigslist or eBay to market some items from our former location we can no longer use.
  • The congregation discussed the possibility of using the pews from our former location at this facility. We postponed the decision. However, our landlord has informed us that we cannot dispose of the pews we are now using even if we replaced them.

  • Operation Nightwatch ‘Sock It to Homelessness’ sock collection is in progress.
  • Edmonds Food Bank collection is ongoing.
  • Regional Men’s Retreat at Black Lake, November 4-5.
  • Identity Theft Workshop, sponsored by Thrivent, to inform participants how it can occur, learn prevention steps, and what to do if it does happen. Saturday, October 15th, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, at Advent Lutheran Church in Mill Creek. Free of charge, lunch provided, with a Shredit truck available to shred any amount of personal papers. Fred Van Gorkam is a former missionary veterinarian to Ethiopia with an important message from God’s word spiced with wonderful true life stories. We are blessed to enjoy his ministry at Grace. The evening of the 25th will feature an Ethiopian Coffee Fellowship and pictures.

Fall Ministries: Kids Club, Sunday School, Choir are scheduled. Youth, Confirmation, Adult Bible Study, and Women of Grace are not yet scheduled but
watch for announcements.

Adult Sunday School Class, ‘People Who Made a Difference’ is a discussion style study of Old Testament models of faith. Class meets in the sanctuary.

Thank you to all of you who have worked so hard and long to make our transition possible. Think about a dedication service and open house for celebration.

People: Jamie Eisinger is studying and playing ball at Wayland Baptist U. in Texas. Abigail Mariah Lazicki is doing very well in Woodland Park, CO in the first weeks since birth. We congratulate Anthony and Victoria Fish on their August wedding.

Security System: It is now in operation and works much like what we had before. Keyed entry should only be done at the front door or double glass door next to the bathrooms, as these are where the code pads are located. The last one out should check all the doors to make sure they are locked.

In the Community:

  • Fall Regional Women’s Retreat is September 30-October 2 at Embassy Suites and Maple Park.
  • Operation Nightwatch ‘Sock It to Homelessness’ sock collection is coming in October.
  • Edmonds Food Bank collection basket is downstairs.

People:

  • Tisha and Seveah Lazicki have moved back to Springfield, Oregon.
  • Jeff and Peggy Buckley are planning to move to the ‘beach house’ in August.
  • Mike and Hannah Lazicki arrived (finally) in Colorado and may settle in Colorado Springs. The tale of their move is harrowing indeed, but the story of the Lord’s provision is remarkable as well.

Elder/Trustee Board:

  • We plan to move to the Edmonds facility for Rally Day. Watch for ‘fixing the place up’ opportunities this summer.
  • Our ministries schedule in September is not finalized. Watch for announcements.
  • We hope to have a Pinewood Derby and BBQ at the new property in August.
  • The lineup of Sundays guest speakers includes Richard Erickson, Stan Olsen, Curt Atneosen, Richard Bridston, and Fred VanGorkom.

Prayer Notes:

  • CLBA International Mission is seeking to place a new missionary family among the Bagirmi people of Chad, Africa. To do so will require a significant financial commitment beyond what is already being done.
  • Many families in our CLB congregation in Minot ND lost their homes in the recent flood.
  • As we transition to our new location we seek a renewed vision of our God given calling as His congregation in the community.
  • God will continue to bless Kris Kraakmo’s ministry in Japan with fruitfulness, and give him great joy in the process.

Elder Board: During the summer our Bible Study and Prayer Meetings will be
on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. We are scheduling monthly congregational potlucks
after the morning service throughout the summer. Pastor Dan’s summertime
messages will be on the theme ‘The Church – Imagine That!’ featuring seven
images the NT creates to describe what the Church is, and ought to be on earth.
We will be enjoying a number of guest speakers as well. The Elder & Trustee
Boards are busy working on congregational transition issues. We will report on
progress.

Summer Schedule: Sunday School, Kid’s Club, Women of Grace, and Choir are
in recess Memorial Day to Labor Day. Youth have special activities. Worship
Services are at 10:30 am (not at 10:00 as was previously announced). Watch for
special events.

In the Community:

  • Bible Camp: Grace joins Maple Park providing after evening service cookies on Tuesday night, and presenting the Children’s Theatre on Thursday evening.
  • July 2 is the PNW Region Convention.
  • CLBA National Women’s Ministries Convention is at Tuscarora Inn in PA. June 24-26.
  • Thrivent is sponsoring a night at the Aquasox July 15, 5:30 pm. $10 reserved seats ticket includes BBQ dinner, game, and fireworks. Sign up in May. Payment is due by June 25th.

  • Kris Kraakmo is returning to Japan May 12th to continue his ministry.
  • Al & Goldie Foss sold their house and will be moving to Colfax in June.
  • Mike and Hannah Lazicki are relocating to Pueblo, CO at the end of May.
  • Vi Trowbridge is transferring to Seattle when the right apartment opens.
  • Anthony Fish and Victoria Bristol are engaged and planning an August, 20 wedding.

Parish Board: We determined that due to circumstances it would be unwise to
attempt hosting a VBS this summer. We would like to enjoy an Alderwood Derby
and BBQ, possibly in August.

Women of Grace will conclude a wonderful year of ministry on June 6th with lunch at the Claim Jumper. All women are invited whether or not you have been part of the group during the year.

  • John Pinney graduates from his Job Corp program on March 18. Congratulations!
  • Clayton Pinney has moved to Everett.
  • We gratefully welcomed Helga Boge into membership at Grace.
  • The Holmers and Buckleys are on extended sun breaks but promise to return when all that nice weather gets boring.
  • Lindy Kraakmo leaves on March 18 for a two week visit with Kris in Japan.

Benevolence Committee: The Everett Gospel Mission Women’s and Children’s Shelter send a big thank you to Grace for our Valentine toiletries gift.

Elder Board: ‘Hallelujah. What a Savior!’ is our theme for Lent. On Wednesday evenings we will be focusing on the Biblical dynamics of a local Church congregation centered in Jesus Christ, and join in a season of spontaneous prayer. On Sundays we will meditate on how Jesus revealed His salvation to several diverse characters from the Gospel of John.

In the Community

  • ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ Seattle Children’s Chorus in concert, March 19, 4:00 pm at 1st Presbyterian Church, Seattle.
  • SCC Camerata Benefit Concert on March 27, 7:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran in Lynnwood.

Hillcrest Choir: We are hosting them on Palm Sunday evening, and in homes overnight. betails will be forthcoming, but we will need a widespread hospitality response.

College & Young Adults: A Bible Study group has begun meeting with fellowship, spiritual growth, and outreach in mind. The schedule is flexible accommodating participant’s availability. If interested, not so young Gary is the man to see.

Kids Club: Wednesday nights at 5:30 the place is hopping with excited kids. Jesica who leads the ministry must take a two month break for personal reasons. Watch for an announcement on the immediate future of the group.

Valentine Treat for the Women’s and Children’s Shelter at the Everett Gospel Mission. We are collecting toiletries to be presented on Valentine’s Day. Details are posted in the Sanctuary.

Sunday School: Watch for special participation in our Lenten services. The youth will sponsor the Easter Breakfast.
